People who are planning to relocate to another country have been advised to make sure they are financially prepared for such a move.

According to Shelter Offshore, many prospective expatriates are unable to fulfil their ambitions because they have not got enough money.

Therefore, the website has encouraged those who wish to live abroad to plan their finances early.

In addition, it has also suggested that people make sure they have some means of generating an income while overseas.

Shelter Offshore commented: "If you can't afford to live there without financial problems then paradise will be a fog behind the nagging worries about bills and how you're going to manage."

The online portal added that people who address this issue before moving stand a much better chance of improving their quality of life in the long run.

According to Jill Rutter of the Institute for Public Policy Research, Britons are increasingly moving abroad because they are more affluent than in the past.

She told the Guardian that a record number of people are choosing to relocate overseas each year.
