Perth tops popularity poll

The city of Perth in Western Australia has been revealed to be the most popular city in the country in which to holiday.

A poll by totaltravel.com of the places people would least like to holiday in found that just five per cent regarded Perth as somewhere they would least like to visit.

Canberra was the least popular place to go, attracting 33 per cent of the vote, followed by Sydney on 14 per cent, with Darwin and Adelaide tied in third.

Such a finding may suggest that those thinking of buying property in Australia could do well to look to Perth for its buy-to-let tourist potential and attractive lifestyle.

Well-known features of Perth include Kings Park, the Perth Mint, the historic port of Fremantle and Rottnest Island.

Lying on the Indian Ocean coast, the city is closer to Singapore than it is to Sydney.
