South Africa and Australia have been named as two of the most popular destinations for long-haul holidaymakers.
According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators, these two countries attract Britons for a variety of reasons.
Executive director for the body Kate Kenward explained that South Africa's time zone - along with the value of the rand against the pound - makes it an attractive choice, as it means jet lag is less of a problem than visiting other countries.
And she added that "Australia … will always be popular with the Brits no matter what", noting that many Britons visit the country to see family and friends.
Overseas property investors who have been considering making purchases in the two countries may be encouraged by Ms Kenward's comments, as they could see a steady demand for rented property if they remain popular.
South Africa was found to be one of the cheapest destination for those looking to travel abroad, coming second behind Thailand in a recent Post Office survey.
