Transport links between the USA and Brazil are set to be enhanced before the end of the year, it has been confirmed.
According to American Airlines, new routes to the South American nation will be launched from Miami in November.
The carrier will offer direct passage from the Florida-based hub to destinations including Belo Horizonte, Salvador de Bahia and Recife.
Commenting on the move, Peter Dolara of American Airlines said he is excited about expanding into Brazil.
"It is a dynamic country in so many ways," he commented.
"American's comprehensive schedule puts it all conveniently and easily within reach."
This comes after the Brazilian government confirmed that it would be investing in improving the country's airports, reports the Associated Press.
The upgrades will be carried out ahead of the Fifa World Cup in 2014, which is being staged in cities such as Rio de Janeiro.
Authorities are expecting a significant increase in the number of people passing through Brazil's airports throughout the duration of the tournament.
