Brazil 'to be easier to get international mortgage in'

Getting a mortgage to buy a Brazilian property will be easier from next year, it has been stated.

In a feature on the country's property outlook, the overseas investment magazine noted that talks are taking place between the government and banks to devise ways in which this can be achieved, with new laws to come into force next year.

The portal noted that there has been a surge in buyer interest about property in Brazil, with this being helped by the awarding of the 2016 Olympics to Rio de Janeiro.

It noted that there has been a 60 per cent increase in enquiries about the country since August.

The country will see a large increase in the number of buyers from overseas in the near future, executive chairman at construction firm Confide Brasil Javier Fernandez-Pena said recently.

Speaking at the Why Brazil? Why Now? Investment Opportunities in Real Estate & Tourism Markets event in London last month, he said Brazil is "starting to be seen as fashionable or the location of the next real estate boom".
