A delegation from the Brazilian government has left for China as part of its preparations for the 2014 World Cup.
Representatives of Brazil are heading to the Asian country in order to see how it is dealing with the task of preparing for a major international sporting event.
China will be hosting the next Olympic Games in Beijing later this year, which means the Brazilian delegation could pick up valuable tips on how to host an event on such a large scale.
According to Brazilian tourism minister Marta Suplicy, the delegation is particularly keen to use the fact-finding trip as an opportunity to learn about how the Chinese are publicising the Games.
Ms Suplicy commented: "We have a lot to learn from China, with all the facilities built for the 2008 Olympics and the enormous Shanghai 2009 Exposition."
As well as being a prominent sporting event, the 2014 World Cup will act as a major international showcase for the country.
Speaking after it was named as the host of the tournament, former Brazilian footballer Antonio Lopes told Reuters that the whole nation would benefit financially and economically.
