Many British property investors are looking to make their next purchase overseas, new figures have revealed.
According to the Property Investor Show, one in four UK-based investment buyers plan to buy abroad within the next year.
Emerging markets were found to be particularly popular among this group, with 72% favouring them over more established alternatives.
This was said to be partly because they offer lower house prices, as well as greater potential for capital appreciation.
Nick Clark, managing director of the Property Investor show, commented: "Investors are still confident in the longer term returns of bricks and mortar and are intending to expand their portfolios this year."
This comes after currency specialist HiFX revealed that Brazil is becoming more and more popular with overseas property buyers in the UK.
According to the organisation, the amount of interest in the South American country went up by one per cent during June 2008.
