Brazil is attracting more and more visitors from overseas, according to official statistics.

Figures cited by Brazzil Mag revealed that between January and June 2008, more that 3.2 million foreign nations chose to enter the country.

This is an increase of 2.67 per cent on the same period of 2007, a development which could help boost the Brazilian rental market.

Commenting on the findings, Jeanine Pires of tourism institute Embratur said the increase is a positive development for the holiday sector.

She observed: "It shows constant recovery in the number of arrivals on international flights, which is very good."

Meanwhile, the World Travel and Tourism Council has revealed that Brazil has moved up the global tourism rankings, reports Gazeta Mercantil.

Jean-Claude Baungartem, president of the organisation, said the South American nation has risen from 18th to 14th place this year.

This, he stated, is because the tourism sector is enjoying an above-average rate of growth.
