Interestingly, the crime rate in the city of Praia in July was considerably lower than that registered in the same month last year, according to a source from the Ministry of Internal Administration. Crimes against goods and property went down by 42% in comparison to July 2005, while crimes against people were down by 22%. This is due to a recent restructuring of the police force in Cape Verde and improvements to police communication equipment.
