New flights from the UK to Cape Verde have been welcomed as a possible boost to tourism and investment in the region.

Speaking in response to the introduction of new flights by TACV, Adrian Lillywhite of Cape Verde Property said that demand for property in the west African archipelago was high at the moment

He stated that the islands were popular as overseas investors wanted affordable frontline properties in a popular destination, reports Homes Worldwide.

Mr Lillywhite commented: "This new route from TACV is well timed as more and more people are looking to visit the islands for some winter sun.

The airline will begin running the flights between London's Stansted Airport twice a week, servicing both capital city Praia on Santiago Island and neighbouring Sal Island.

Earlier this week, Emerging Real Estate said it had "huge expectations" for the property market in Cape Verde, due to its appeal among investors.
