Overseas property buyers could find emerging markets potentially lucrative investments, according to experts.
World Investment Services (WIS) highlighted Cape Verde as an area where people could enter the market at low cost and enjoy the proceeds of capital appreciation.
Eastern Europe was also said to present a number of investment opportunities, as it has become highly popular among tourists in the last few years.
WIS stated that the popularity of emerging markets was largely due to the aviation sector, as budget airlines had recently started offering direct links to these countries.
Matt Moore, spokesperson for the organisation, commented: "Affordable travel and a taste for more exotic holiday locations has made the world a much smaller place."
He added that favourable exchange rates could also benefit investors, along with the proceeds of rental income.
The comments come after UK newspaper the Mirror said that an increasing number of people were choosing to purchase property in "far-flung" destinations, partly because cheaper flights had made them more accessible.
