Cape Verde 'geared up to UK air travel'

The arrival of direct air access from the UK has been a key factor in helping to develop the property sector in Cape Verde, it has been stated.

Paul Collins, overseas editor of property investor magazine Buy Association, said this development has been "quite a big factor" in the emergence of the country's market.

He continued: "A lot of the early real estate investment was based around the idea of there being direct flights [from the UK] coming in."

Mr Collins also said Cape Verde was showing signs of being a maturing market where some buyers are now coming to buy property in which to live.

As well as the expansion of air travel, Cape Verde is now to push ahead with the expansion of a harbour to enable it to unload building materials for new construction at a quicker rate.

The development of Palmeira port on the island of Sal is being funded by a EUR47 million (GBP37 million) loan from the European Development Bank, Macauhub reports.
