Northern Cyprus is becoming a property hotspot for the over 50s, according to a leading overseas property expert.
With tourist numbers in the area growing "year on year", Investors Provident said that the north of the island is attracting many more Brits looking to retire.
Hetal Shah, director of Investors Provident said that once people visit the area they tend to come back year after year.
Mr Shah said: "Most of the tourists actually go to the south then drive up to the north; it's only an hour's drive. Once they go there they find it's a very different place, and has a different atmosphere altogether."
He added that the area was "very calm and peaceful", with fewer "larger louts" than the south.
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus declared its independence from the rest of the island in 1983, and is not at present recognised by the EU.
Many Greek Cypriots forced south following the declaration of independence are at present trying to enforce their legal right to property they had previously owned in the north.
