Popular Egyptian resort Sharm el-Sheikh is putting eco-friendly plans at the forefront of its tourism scheme, it has been announced.
Overseas Property Professional has reported that the Egyptian government is trying to capitalise on the eco-tourism market, with more people planning their holidays in environmentally friendly destinations.
Individuals with property in the country may wish to hear that a total of USD238 million is being pledged to the resort, with the plan of becoming carbon-neutral by 2020.
Jeff Dickinson, managing director of property agent and developer Pioneer Property, told Overseas Property Professional that the move was representative of positive intentions by the government to the long-term future of the resort.
He continued: "As the awareness grows about the issue globally, more people will start to think about the how these things will affect them and the destination."
"In such a beautiful destination the environment is paramount to its success and should be well taken care for generations to come."
Sharm el-Sheikh is home to Little Buddha, a sushi restaurant, nightclub and bar credited as having the longest continuous bar in the Middle East.
