Information on Haute-normandie
The region of Haute Normandie in northwest France is easily accessible from the UK via cross Channel ferries. It is a popular location for French property purchase, both by virtue of its proximity to the UK as well as due to its unspoilt traditional country life and natural beauty to be found here. Made up of two areas; Eure and Seine Maritime, Haute-Normandie also boasts a strong economic presence, the fifth largest in France, with the production of cereals and major activity at its ports in Dieppe and Le Havre. Tourists not only make the most of the French countryside and lifestyle, but also enjoy this region's numerous museums, historic towns such as Rouen, theatres, gardens and forests. The port of Dieppe is also a favourite amongst tourists due to its street markets spreading throughout the streets, selling fresh products from all over France as well fish sold straight from the fishing boats.
France is a popular place in which to invest in property and Haute-Normandie is amongst the areas that has witnessed the highest growth in property prices. The market remains buoyant while property prices do vary considerably across Normandy. Due to their location a little further from the coast, Seine-Maritime and Eure in Haute-Normandie are more expensive than many areas of Basse-Normandie.
