Living costs in France are considerably lower than those in the UK, according to a British expatriate.
Sarah Ormerod, who has lived in Nice since 2006, stated that the difference in the cost of living meant she was able to live in a more appealing area.
Speaking to the Independent, she commented: "For the amount I was paying for a room in the suburbs of London, I can rent a lovely flat just two minutes from the sea front."
Ms Ormerod added that although her job was her primary reason for moving abroad, the experience of living in France had exceeded her expectations.
In addition, she praised the friendliness of her neighbours in Nice, describing them as "welcoming" and "keen" to get to know new arrivals.
Meanwhile, Eastern Airways has begun operating its first ever scheduled flights from Southampton to Angers Loire Airport.
The new service launched yesterday and comes hot on the heels of the introduction of a new high-speed rail link by Eurostar.
