Buyers back Gascony

Gascony provides UK buyers with both lifestyle advantages and affordable property it has been stated. 

A Daily Mail feature on the Gers region said that prices are much lower there than in neighbouring regions like Provence.

It also noted the positive experience of British couple Jayne and John McNish, who moved to the area with their teenage son from the Wye Valley.

Mrs McNish said: "The move gave us an appreciably bigger home and enabled us to knock several hundred thousand pounds off the mortgage."

She also commented that it is no less difficult for her husband to fly to the US on business, while he never has to emulate the GBP110 train journeys he used to undertake between Bristol and London.

The paper revealed that the region is 80 minutes drive from the ski areas of the Pyrenees, while describing the local scenery as similar to the Malverns.

Earlier this week, organisers of the French Property Show - which will be held this coming weekend in Harrogate – said the country is currently a "buyer's market".
