Expats urged to 'embrace foreign way of life'

British people who move abroad have been urged to try their hardest to fit into their new community.

Steven Quinn, who has been living abroad since 2001, said expatriates would get more out of the experience if they tried to assimilate.

Speaking to the Sun, he recommended that people dispense with their UK lifestyle if they wish to integrate fully.

Mr Quinn told the newspaper: "We have found that you have to embrace the new cultures and the way that they live."

He added that if people follow this advice, they will find it easier to settle into their new place of residence.

This, he said, would make the reality of living in another country meet their initial expectations.

Earlier this month, a report in the Telegraph stated that many British people are thinking of packing up and leaving for another country.

This was largely attributed to the current state of the UK economy, which has led to increases in the prices of groceries, fuel and other necessary expenses.
