France 'offering soundest property prospects'

French property is one of the safest ways for people to invest their money, an overseas property firm has stated.

VEF, which specialises in the French market, has said the country has a number of economic advantages over its neighbours.

It has stated that the economy is still growing and not heading for recession, the banking system is secure because it has exercised prudence in mortgage lending and thus the banks have not accrued major losses in the way those elsewhere have, while property prices are stable.

VEF said the best properties of all to invest in are stone properties, identifying the northern Dordogne and southern Limousin regions as the places to find these.

Limousin is among the regions of France likely to be the most popular with British property buyers in France this autumn, Sextant Properties has forecast.

Other regions it has tipped to be favoured include Brittany and Languedoc.
