Overseas property buyers in the UK are still very keen to buy a residence in France, analysts have stated.

According to Stanley Tee LLP Solicitors, the European country has become popular with Britons for a number of different reasons.

Herve Blatry, spokesperson for the organisation, said the French culture is one of its main attractions, along with its good climate and food.

However, he added that people from the UK have also been drawn by factors including its favourable financial environment.

"It is relatively easy to obtain a mortgage at a competitive interest rate," he commented.

Mr Blatry added that France also has a safe legal system and is very easily accessible from the UK.

Transport links to France were recently enhanced when Eurostar launched its new high-speed rail link between London and Paris last year.

The service, which launched in November 2007, has cut travel times between the two cities to just 2 hours and 15 minutes.
