New research has shown that those who live as expats in France and Spain are most likely to enjoy family visits.
A study by Alliance & Leicester has found that a quarter of expats have regular visits from family and friends, with the best turnout being enjoyed by those dwelling in France, who get an average of ten such visitors each year.
Spain is jointly second alongside the Netherlands with eight.
Half of expats in France and Spain enjoy regular visits from their immediate family.
Such findings may suggest Spain and France are among the best places for people to buy if they want to maintain close contact with their loved ones.
Joint managing director of Alliance & Leicester International Simon Ripton remarked: "The research shows that British friends and family appear to favour shorter travelling times when visiting expat relatives, as opposed to experiencing more far-flung destinations."
France is a good place to invest because it is one of the few locations not to suffer prices falls during the credit crunch, Liam Bailey of overseas investment portal Property Abroad said last week.
