Article Date : 07 June 2010
News Section: France
The number of property investors looking to take advantage of the recovering French real estate market rose steeply during May, with many individuals feeling more confident about re-entering the sector.
According to French mortgage specialist Athena Mortgages, there has been a surge in interest in the country, with the number of enquiries by UK-based purchasers up 72 per cent in the first quarter of 2010.
In particular, buyers were looking at new builds in the country.
Company director John Busby said: "We have certainly noticed a change in the mindset of UK investors and in particular during the last two months we have taken a lot of calls from prospective buyers who are serious about investing in France.
"There is definitely a feeling amongst investors that this is a pretty good time to buy in France, with the value of the euro plummeting in the last couple of months."
The news could lead to an increase in the number of people looking at Midi-Pyrenees property listings, with the southern region boasting some popular tourist destinations.
