History
Farmlandsused to dominate much of the landscape, including groves. During theearly to mid 20th century, urban development and industrial buildingsreplaced much of the farmland. The industrial area are around thenorthern and the northeastern part of Metafmorfosi. Today, most ofthe land is residential. The Parnitha canbe seen, as can the Penteli mountainsto the northeast. Thereare two football teams that compete on local leagues, Hrakleio F.C.which participates in the A Division of the local league and ErmhsEirhnh in the C Division respectively. Both teams use as their homeground the Prasinou Lofou stadium over Attiki odos.
Theearthquake of September7, 1999 affectedthe area but caused minor damages.
