Calabria offers "unique charms"

Calabria in southern Italy could provide significant investment opportunities to property buyers, according to one expert.

Overseas Property UK claims that the area remains underdeveloped, yet new low-cost flights provided by Ryanair mean that the area is now accessible to UK tourists and investors.

The company believes that Calabria could soon emerge as the next "growth area" in the European property market.

Debbie Espin, director of Overseas Property UK, says: "With its unique charms and accessibility from the UK, Calabria should become a good opportunity for people looking for something a little different in European property."

Mike Dunkerley, director of The Global Property Group, recently suggested that Calabria offers properties at much lower prices than other areas of Italy, while the government is actively seeking to develop the region.

Most people buying in southern Italy are likely to make a profit on their investment, "whatever else happens", he stated.
