Those who want to find something different in the Italian property scene may wish to look to the south, it has been suggested.
Overseas property magazine Buy Association has said that while regions like Abruzzo and Tuscany are well established among Britons, the south has plenty of comparatively untapped opportunities.
These include some of the highest levels of new building in the country, which includes a large amount of seaside property suitable for the rental market in Calabria.
It also stated that the south offers plenty of older stone properties and is often cheaper, with a one-bedroom apartment being available for under £100,000.
Another part of Italy recently tipped as a likely area of growth is Sicily, thanks to its golf tourism potential.
Earlier this month the Daily Telegraph reported that four new resorts are either being built or are planned to add to the one already in existence on the island.
