Italian ski resorts offer stunning scenery

The beautiful scenery and relative affordability of Italy's ski resorts is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the country this winter.

According to the Telegraph, winter sports destinations such as Madonna di Campiglio in the Dolomites offer excellent skiing facilities at competitive prices for family holidays.

Recommended as a money-saving alternative to the 'A-list' resorts of the Swiss and Austrian Alps, Campiglio benefits from the additional attraction of its "stunning" mountain vistas.

"The Brenta Dolomites come to a sudden stop just to the west of town, ending in a stupendous series of cliff walls - you'll be skiing with your mouth open," the newspaper promises.

Ski resorts across Europe opened ahead of schedule last week after early snowfalls proved to be unexpectedly heavy, causing many experts to predict a bumper season for the ski industry.
