Originally built in 1880, this charming Neo-Gothic castle was commissioned by Romeo Gallenga, a nobleman from Piedmont who married Mary Montgomery Stuart, a relative of the King of Scotland.
The remarkable structure spans 2,600 square meters, of palatial architecture and opulent living spaces. A complete restoration is now close to completion, following several years of intensive work. The castle is set on four floors and characterized by an octagonal tower with a marvelous rooftop terrace, which enjoys 360 degree views over the rolling hills surrounding Perugia.
A perfectly preserved original portal frames the main entrance, which opens to myriad ground-level living spaces including a tapestry room with ornate windows, the red sitting room with a coffered wood ceiling, a fireplace-warmed study with frescoes of family crests, and a small chapel.
A total of 28 bedrooms grace the home, offering an incomparable capacity for entertaining on a grand scale. Surrounding the castle, more than six hectares, or nearly 17 acres, of grounds encompass manicured parklands and gardens, lemon tree greenhouses, and a large u-shaped stable.
