Air

Morocco’s national airline is Royal Air Maroc (AT) (website: www.royalairmaroc.com). Other airlines serving Morocco are Ryanair, EasyJet, Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines. Direct flights from all major European cities are fast and frequent.

You can fly to Morocco from the following airports:

England: Gatwick, Heathrow, stansted, London City, Luton, Bristol, Newcastle, Southampton, Birmingham, East Midlands, Newcastle, Teeside, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds/Bradford, Sheffield

Wales: Cardiff

Scotland: Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Prestwick

Northern Ireland: Belfast City, Belfast Int’l

Irish Republic: Dublin, Cork

There are five international airports in Morocco:

Casablanca (CMN) (Mohammed V)
Tangier (TNG) (Boukhalef Souahel)
Fez (FEZ)
Marrakech (RAK)
Rabat-Salé (RBA)

All have bus or train and taxi services into the town. Airport facilities include duty free shop, post office, bureau de change, restaurant, bar and car hire facilities (Avis, Budget, Europcar, InterRent and Hertz).

Casablanca airport serves as the nerve centre for domestic flights, with Royal Air Maroc (RAM) as its carrier. Local flights are expensive, but fast and efficient.

Airports are being upgraded and new ones built, eg. at Tangier. An ‘Open skies agreement’ was recently signed ahead of the 2007 schedule and Monarch, Ryan Air and EasyJet have been signed up to Tangier and Tetouan airports.

Sea

The principal sea ports are Tangier, Casablanca and Ceuta.

Lines serving these ports are:

Bland Line (from Spain and Gibraltar)
Comanav (from France, Spain and Italy)
Compañía Trasmediterránea
Limadet, Polish Ocean Lines (from Northern Europe)
Transtour

There are cheap and regular car-passenger ferry links between southern Spain and Tangier as well as to Ceuta and Melilla, the Spanish enclaves on the north Moroccan coast. Most car ferry links are on a roll-on, roll-off basis.

Routes are from:

  • Algeciras to Ceuta (Sebta) (car ferry)
  • Algeciras to Tangier (hydrofoil and car ferry)
  • Tarifa to Tangier (hydrofoil)
  • Gibraltar to Tangier (hydrofoil and car ferry)
  • Almería to Melilla (car ferry)
  • Almería to Nador (car ferry)
  • Málaga to Melilla (car ferry)

Car/passenger ferries operators include: FerriMaroc (website: www.ferrimaroc.com) and Trasmediterranea (website: www.trasmediterranea.com).
