Air Arabia has announced the purchase of 10 more planes for its new hub in Morocco.

In a development which is likely to make the country even more accessible to air passengers, the United Arab Emirates-based airline will add 10 Airbus A320 models to its 34-plan order for the Casablanca hub, scheduled to open early next year.

Air Arabia plans to operate domestic services from Casablanca, as well as providing flights to destinations in Europe and Africa once the fleet is fully up and running.

From its base in the UAE, it currently flies to over 40 cities in the Middle East and South Asia.

The Telegraph recently reported how a programme of infrastructure developments introduced in Morocco by King Mohammed VI – including the upgrade of regional airports to attract low-cost airlines - is attracting more property investors to the country.

Figures from the Ministry of Tourism show that Morocco received 7.41 million visits from tourists in 2007, representing an increase of 13% on the previous year.
