Magharebia.com recently cited official figures showing that the tourist sector had generated thousands of new jobs in Morocco and accounted more than half of overall government investment.
This is a measure of how much importance authorities have attached to the industry, hence the upgrades to its airport and overall accessibility.
Other sectors such as construction will also be set to benefit, as increased tourism will result in the need for more holiday accommodation in popular areas.
