Owners of property in Morocco could see a surge in demand for rental accommodation this year.

This is due to the introduction of a new flight between Madrid and Tangiers by low-cost airline easyJet.

The service should open up the north of Morocco to consumers in Spain and mainland Europe and potentially boost tourism in the region.

In addition, the launch of flights in Tangiers should also enhance the appeal of the region among overseas property buyers, particularly as growth in the tourist trade increases the likelihood of collecting strong rental returns.

Several flights to Morocco are already operated by easyJet from a number of different European cities, including services to Marrakesh from Gatwick Airport in London and the French capital Paris.

However, this service marks the first time that the carrier has offered people direct passage to Tangiers.
