With a capital of the same name, the rustic northern region of Guarda stretches along the Spanish border with the River Douro at its northern limit. Guarda is a farming area with a largely under developed real estate market, but as the northern Portugal coast (Green Coast) becomes increasingly popular amongst property buyers, it is fair to expect prices to be rising in the near future within this region as a whole.
