the medieval village of óbidos and the sanctuary of fatima (holiest catholic site in portugal) attract millions of visitors every year. other nearby tourist attractions includes the fishing village of nazaré and the historical towns of alcobaça and batalha. caldas da rainha the nearest large cosmopolitan town, boasting thermal springs, is only 7 km away from são martinho do porto. leiria, an even larger town is only a 20 minutes drive away.
