The appeal of the Algarve extends beyond the wealth of golf courses it has to offer, a golf tourism spokesperson has stated.
Golf International's David Brice explained that although the region offers over 30 courses to budding players, it is also home to a range of cultural, historical and scenic attractions.
He noted: "The Algarve just might be the perfect escape for everyone, regardless of their interests, including those who prefer to do absolutely nothing at all but relax, hang out and watch the world go by."
Such comments may be welcomed by overseas property investors, who may wish to purchase homes in this particular area of Portugal in order to reap any potential benefits from an increase in golfers visiting the region.
Property Abroad's Liam Bailey recently stated that the Algarve will benefit from the recently-announced easyJet flights that will link Faro airport to the UK.
He expects values to increase by as much as 15 per cent per year for the next five to ten years as a result.
