Algarve 'offering best European golf prospects'

The Algarve offers the best golf property prospects in Europe, it has been suggested.

In a feature on the buying of homes on courses, the Daily Mail noted that government figures show that the UK demographic most likely to buy overseas property is affluent and in its 50s - which matches the profile of those who play golf the most.

According to the paper, the Algarve is the "undisputed" prime area in Europe for golfing properties.

David Cox from investment firm Property Frontiers noted that half of Portugal's courses are in the region and told the publication that this factor had led to "a price appreciation of ten per cent (per annum) in recent years".

Portugal's overall property market prospects are likely to improve in the coming months, it has been suggested.

Overseas investment magazine BuyAssociation noted recently that professionals working in the sector are optimistic due to the fact that the country is now out of recession.
