Algarve property in new golf boost

The Portuguese property market may have had a new boost with the opening of another golf course on the Algarve.

Former Ryder Cup star Christy O' Connor Jnr has formally launched a course bearing his name at the Amendoeira Golf Resort in Oceanico.

The advent of another high quality golf course may provide a further incentive for those investing in tourist property in Portugal to buy in the area, as it increases the availability of choice for fans of the sport.

Amendoeira is just 35 minutes away from Faro Airport, guaranteeing easy access for visitors.

Mr O' Connor said at the launch: "This has been a fantastic occasion and I’m delighted that my family could be with me to share this experience."

Mr O' Connor already has his own course in his native Ireland at Silloge Park in Swords, County Dublin.
