Enthusiasm among British investors for property in Portugal shows no sign of diminishing, a Portuguese news site has stated.

According to JornalRegional.com, at least 100 delegates attended the latest annual Portuguese Property and Tourism conference in London.

Organised by the Portuguese Chamber, the event has grown in size each year ? a reflection of the "widening interest for tourism and residential property in Portugal".

Delegates at the conference heard how the Portuguese market is expanding, which is partly due to extensive interest from the UK, Ireland and other EU states.

The website said that 70,000 Britons now own a property in Portugal.

Due to the "explosion" of overseas interest in off-plan property in Portugal, large areas of the country have been developed "solely with real estate in mind", according to Off Plan International.
