In news that may interest those thinking of investing in Portuguese property, the country has been hailed as an outstanding place to invest in golf-related real estate.
Padraig Harrington, a member of Europe's Ryder Cup team and also a trained accountant, explained to the Daily Telegraph why he had invested in a five bedroom villa at Vilamoura near Faro.
He stated: "Buying at Vilamoura not only gives me the security of a quality property investment, but will allow me to practise on a different course every day of the week."
The paper added that those buying through locally-based company Oceanico could purchase a golf title in perpetuity for GBP30,000, which would allow them to play any of the seven courses owned by the firm.
It also noted that many other top golfers have invested in golf property in the country.
Portugal was recently labelled the best place in the world in which to play golf, Portugal News Online reported.
