Portugal 'has some of best courses'

Portugal has some of the best golf courses anywhere in the world, it has been stated.

David Brice of Golf International wrote that the Iberian Pensinsula offers a wide range of outstanding golfing along the seaboards of Spain and Portugal.

He commented that the two countries have "carefully developed golf infrastructures that rank alongside the world's best".

Mr Brice named the six Portuguese courses as Otiavos Dunes and Troia near Lisbon, Praia d'El Rey near Obidos, San Lorenzo and two in Vilamoura, these being the Old Course and the Victoria Club.

Vilamoura Victoria Club's course stages the Portugal Masters tournament, part of the PGA European tour, he noted.

Another place where professional golf takes place at is Estoril, which hosts this year's Portuguese Open from April 2nd to 5th.
