Portugal has strong rental potential

Recent developments in Portugal are set to attract more overseas property investors next year, according to travel experts.

According to the Move Channel, Portugal's new Formula 1 racing circuit will provide a significant boost for the country's property market in 2009.

The website, which ranked Portugal at number two in its November 'top of the props' chart, said that the motorsport venue is expected to attract an additional 1 million visitors to the country each year.

As a result, "rental potential on an investment property could be very strong indeed", the travel portal states.

The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao opened earlier this month and will be used for testing by several F1 teams in December.

In addition to the racetrack, the complex features a technology park, five-star hotel and sports complex.

Italy, another popular European destination, moved up to number three in the Move Channel's overseas property chart.
