Portugal recommended to golf lovers

Golf lovers have been encouraged to consider enjoying the first-class attractions on offer in Portugal.

According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), the European country offers some of the best quality golf courses in Europe.

As a result, it is proving to be a major hotspot for fans of the sport, especially as it also has good weather for 12 months of the year.

AITO commented: "With its temperate climate, Portugal is one of the world's best year-round destinations for golfing holidays."

The organisation added that the country also has a number of other attractions besides golf, including lots of cultural points of interest.

This comes after Golf International described Portugal as a good destination for golfers because it offers "idyllic" surroundings.

However, spokesperson David Brice also told PGATour.com that its appeal extends far beyond the sport, which is why people keep coming back "year after year".
