Portugal recommended to golf lovers

Overseas property buyers who want to enjoy a game of golf at their foreign residence have been encouraged to look at Portugal.

According to the Telegraph, the European country is currently a very popular location among fans of the sport.

The newspaper said its appeal is particularly strong among professional golfers such as Darren Clarke, Paul McGinley and David Howell, all of whom have bought property there.

And Padraig Harrington, winner of 3 of the past 6 majors, also owns a Portuguese residence.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he commented: "[It] not only gives me the security of a quality property investment, but will allow me to practice on a different course every day of the week."

Earlier this month, the Association of Independent Tour Operators praised the European country for offering some of the best quality golf courses in Europe.

Portugal was described as a major hotspot for fans of the sport, especially as it also has good weather for 12 months of the year.
