Portugal tipped as top destination

Estate agents are tipping Portugal as one of the best destinations in which to invest in property in Europe at present.

Buy Association has noted that a number of property agents are predicting that prices in the country will soon start to rise again, as Portugal is now out of recession.

The portal noted that the Silver Coast has been forecast to do particularly well, seeing its values increase by between 50 per cent and 75 per cent by 2015.

It also noted that areas with golf resorts - such as the Algarve - are popular in the same way as they are in Spain.

However, the fact that Portugal is now out of recession is seen as giving it an advantage over its neighbour.

Earlier this month, the Knight Frank Global House Price Index revealed that Portuguese house prices rose by 1.7 per cent in the second quarter of this year.
