The Silver Coast is emerging as a major investment location in Portugal as buyers grow tired of the Algarve and other established destinations, it has been claimed.
Already dubbed 'the new Algarve', the region has undergone major development in recent years but still retains much of its natural beauty, according to the Times.
The newspaper reports that the launch of new golf and horse riding facilities is also making the Silver Coast an increasingly popular holiday destination, with resorts such as Royal Obidos Spa & Golf bringing new visitors into the region.
In addition, the Silver Coast's location just south of Lisbon means that property owners and holidaymakers can also benefit from easy access to the Portuguese capital.
Commenting on Lisbon, the Times states: "The proximity of superb beaches around Estoril, Guincho and Caparica makes the capital a buzzy alternative to the Algarve, spread across several hills dotted with viewpoints."
Portuguese tourism minister Bernardo Trindade recently visited the UK to raise awareness of the country as a holiday destination.
