Apartments For Sale In Spain

Apartments are often the property of choice for many investors. They offer access to gardens and swimming pools without the hard work of maintenance.

Apartments are by far the most common form of home in the cities and coastal areas of Spain. They enable cost efficient and usually high class living in areas A typical Spanish apartmentwhere land is of premium value and would be unaffordable to most without the construction of apartment blocks. Today, apartments for sale in Spain usually offer excellent communal facilities including beautiful landscaped gardens with large swimming pools, some even offer restaurants and gymnasiums.

In the 1960s and 1970s Spain was known for the huge, ugly seaside apartment blocks designed to cram in as many holidaymakers as possible. In recent years the development and design of Spanish apartments has progressed and many now feature some innovative and impressive designs with ample living space.

With tighter laws governing building licences, apartments on the Costa del Sol and other coasts are more likely to be lower and blend in with the environment and surroundings than previously.

Listed below are some of the many different types of Spanish apartments for sale.

Penthouse Apartments

The most prestigious and most expensive. Penthouses are usually the largest apartments in any block with far larger terraces and superior views.

Duplex Apartments

Duplex apartments usually offer increased living space by spanning 2 floors.

Garden Apartments

Garden apartments are usually on the ground floor. Although not always, as some apartments in Spain are built on mountains on a staggered incline. Gardens are typically small and offer an alternative to the balcony offered by most.

Studio Apartments

By far the cheapest form of accommodation in Spain. A typical studio apartment has a main living area with a kitchen separated by a breakfast bar and then a separate bathroom. There are some spacious open-plan studios available but in general they are the smallest of all available apartments in Spain.

Finding an Apartment to Buy in Spain

Finding an apartment can be daunting due to the huge selection and varying price ranges available. Prices are driven by the size and quality of the apartments, the apartment type, the views they offer, the facilities offered by the community and the physical location of the apartment itself.

New Build Apartments

If you are prepared to purchase a property from an architect’s plan prior to construction then there are several advantages available to you (see the section why buy off-plan?).
