Banco Halifax Hispania to open Spanish island offices
Article Date : Wednesday, May 16, 2007
Banco Halifax Hispania has announced it is set to open three branches away from the Spanish mainland.
The new offices, which are due to be opened some time this year on the Canary Islands and Menorca, will serve the British expatriates who are looking to buy a second home somewhere in Spain.
Banco Halifax Hispania's decision was partly based on a social trends report by the Office for National Statistics, which found that the first choice for British expatriates was Spain, followed by France.
Ian Smith, head of European operations, said: "The opening of Halifax Hispania branches away from mainland Spain is an important step in the development of our branch network.
"We will continue to target the Spanish islands in addition to our successful mainland business."
Banco Halifax Hispania, which already has branches in Spanish hotspots such as Malaga and Marbella, recently opened a new branch in Calahonda on the Costa del Sol.
