Ease of accessibility 'tempts investors to Spain'

Spain has become one of the most popular investment locations because it is easy to get to from the UK, according to an expert.

Darren Fretwell, head of UK sales at NatWest International, said Spain's accessibility from 28 airports in Britain made it particularly convenient for British investors and holiday home owners.

He told Mortgage Solutions that the proximity of Spain to the UK and the growth of the budget airline industry had also helped drive its popularity.

Mr Fretwell commented: "With budget airlines becoming the norm rather than a poor relation to better known ones, the stigma has been taken away from such companies".

He added that consumers would also benefit from increased competition in the low-cost flights sector, as various firms would continue to drop their prices to attract further custom.

This follows recent comments from Elysian Holidays, which said that the location of smaller regional airports in Spain also helped make it easier for people to get to property hotspots.
