The overseas property market could be in for a boost thanks to disaffected Britons seeking sunnier weather.
Richard Gregan, managing director of Emigration Overseas, stated that the number of Britons wanting to purchase an overseas property was likely to increase in the near future because of recent adverse weather.
During the summer months, Britain was hit by torrential downpours which caused flooding in many parts of the country.
Mr Gregan said this could have been "the straw that broke the camel's back" in prompting people to leave Britain for a warmer destination.
He added: "The weather is always among the top reasons for leaving and this summer we have had more calls than the previous five."
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 385,000 Britons relocated to another country between July 2005 and July 2006.
Mr Gregan said that this figure - the highest ever recorded by the ONS - could be higher next year.
