The Spanish government is to increase public spending in Malaga next year, according to reports.
According to the Typically Spanish website, the amount of money to be put into the region in 2008 will be 11 per cent higher than the amount allocated this year.
Up to €1.1 billion will be spent on a raft of infrastructure improvements, such as the expansion of the province's transport network.
For example, one-third of the money will be spent on developing a new high-speed rail service, while the international airport will also receive extra funding.
In addition, a new ring road is to be built around Malaga, further enhancing the accessibility of the region to locals, holidaymakers and overseas property investors.
This comes after figures from the Civil Aviation Authority showed that in 2006, Malaga was one of the most popular overseas destinations with leisure travellers from the UK.
