Many of Britain's baby boomers are looking to move abroad and enjoy a more relaxed life in the sun, according to new research from Bradford and Bingley.
Its study found that some 48 per cent of over 55s want to travel more and 18 per cent wish they had lived or worked in an overseas country.
But far from living in regret many are taking steps to fulfil their ambitions and are booking trips abroad or even retiring to foreign countries such as Spain.
Indeed, figures seen by Bradford & Bingley shows that 35 per cent of all trips abroad are taken by those over the age of 50 and 57 per cent of all property owned in foreign lands is owned by the over 55s.
Paul Whitlock, head of savings at Bradford & Bingley, said for baby boomers who aspire to live abroad it is not too late to do something about it.
"Putting money aside and making it work for them means they are one step closer to realising their dreams, whether this be travel to exciting destinations or making a more permanent move abroad."
Separate research from Yorkshire Bank shows it is not just older people who are thinking about moving abroad, with 43 per cent of Brits saying they are considering buying a place in the sun.
